What is selecting?
Before you can change text, you need to select it first.
Before selecting
The cat sat on the mat.
Text that is not selected. You can't change it yet.
The cat sat on the mat.
Selected text is highlighted. Now you can change it.
Why select text?
Once text is selected, you can:
- Make it bold or italic
- Change the font or color
- Delete it or replace it
- Copy and paste it
5 ways to select text:
Click and dragSelect any amount of text
Double-clickSelect one word
Triple-clickSelect a whole paragraph
Ctrl + ASelect all text
Click anywhereDeselect (unselect) text
